Family
There's nothing more important for Beauregard than family. this is what he thinks the difference was between him and his father is that his top priority is family even though he knows the driving is what is his passion he would not do anything to hurt his family. That is even why he got into this mess in the first place is because his family needed money not him.

Identity
Beauregard is in between an identity crisis of loving his family and being there and having his passion for driving. He feels the most like himself when behind the wheel and having that adrenaline, but as he stated you cannot have two types of beasts (the family or the crime) eventually, the stronger of the two will win out. For him that was being behind he wheel.
